Your travel agent and information service in Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica

Tours Arenal is a division of Agencia Destino Tropical, a travel agent and tour operator located in La Fortuna de San Carlos, Costa Rica.

This is a family project run by my wife Karla Picado and myself Mario Cordero. Both of us have worked long years in the tourism industry; first in hotels, later as white water rafting and bike tour guides in Costa Rica and Europe. More recently as country coordinators for an international tour operator. In 2003 we took a six month long training at the National Institute of Biodiversity (INBIO) and obtained our Licenses as Costa Rica Naturalist Guides. We have both organized and guided many tours since then: groups, couples, families, students and many bikers.

Five years ago, we got engaged and decided we did not want to live in San Jose anymore. The quality of life in the city was unbearable for these two runners, bikers, birdwatchers, and all around hyperactive souls. We looked for a better place all over the country, and then looked again. La Fortuna, at the base of Arenal Volcano was the ideal location with lots of good roads for biking, lots of rainforest for bird watching and a growing tourism industry. We also thought this was a safe and quiet place to raise a family.

Our goal is to help you plan your visit to Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica, with accurate travel information and an efficient booking service. Simple and straightforward tour descriptions and a great deal of local experience.

This site is just beginning and perhaps the information you need is still not here. So we ask you to please write to us. We still respond to all email every day and will answer all of your questions.
