Hot Springs near Arenal Volcano and La Fortuna A soothing soak in one of the naturally heated Arenal Hot Springs is something you definitely shouldn’t miss during your vacation in Costa Rica. Tabacon Hot SpringsThis luxurious resort is the best known thermal baths facility in Costa Rica. Located right in the place where the former village of Tabacon was destroyed by the 1968 eruption, the Hot Springs is really a hot water stream made into a series of pools and artificial waterfalls. There is a swim up bar with music and a buffet restaurant. Massage and Spa services are top quality in a very beautiful setting. It can get very crowded and noisy with tour buses during the afternoon and early evening. Reservations are required, especially in high season. Entrance fee is $70 (children $50) and includes lunch or dinner. Open from noon to 10pm. Spa treatments start at 8am with reservation. Baldi Hot Springs
This is the largest hot springs facility in the area of Arenal and La Fortuna. It also has a busy bar and a good restaurant and is the most popular Hot Springs among the young crowd. There are 10 pools, all with different temperatures. Spa treatments are operated by Delphi Bio Spa, a professional company offering high quality therapeutic body treatments, massages, exfoliations, facial treatments and others, all with the goal of enhancing your relaxation. Reservations are not required but in high season you are better off booking in advance. Entrance fee is $25 and is good all day even if you go out and come back. Eco Termales Hot Springs Across the street is the entrance of our favorite hot spring option: Eco Thermales. Smaller and more private than the others, this place has a series of pools set in a patch of lush forest and tropical gardens. There is a bar near the pools and a great restaurant serving traditional Costa Rican meals with an authentic home cooking flavor. Immaculate changing rooms and showers. There is a limit to the number of people swimming at the same time so reservations are absolutely necessary.
